Partly agree about Jacobson. Certainly the Motherwell was by far and away the best thing there (on my relatively brief visit). Are those four stars or an expletive deleted? I have to say I thought their surfaces had something, but apart from that the Ruby collages did very little for me.

But I disagree with you about the Wolman pieces – I wasnt aware of his work before this and yes they are a dull brown but more than that. You have to work a bit harder to get at them than the clearer Mat series as discussed above, but they do warrant closer scrutiny and a bit of time to get into them.

On the whole it is a more engaging exhibition than the collage survey at Jackobson…Motherwell rules ok. (And Stockholders playful take on Hodgkin is good too.)

As for the collages of Stirling Ruby at Hauser and Wirth….**** no comment.
